Hot & Cold Breast Therapy Packs – Willow Pump Skip to main content

A breast care essential for breastfeeding success.

Take care. Feed with confidence.

At Willow, we’re obsessed with helping moms achieve their breastfeeding goals — and feel as confident as possible along the way.

Since creating the first fully wearable pump, we’ve given more than 450,000 moms the tools they need to feed their babies. And in that time, we’ve learned that those who reach their “finish line” don’t just get lucky with a good supply or a great eater. Most often, it’s about having access to the people and products that will guide them along the way.

Our newest breastfeeding essentials are an example of this support system. Made for the unpredictable early days and everything that comes with them, they’re designed to help relieve conditions that can cause pain and discomfort — and throw even the best-laid feeding plans off track.

Because achieving your goals, whatever they look like, takes a village. So let’s do this feeding thing. Together.

When and how to use

The cold function is your go-to for engorgement, swelling, and pain relief, while the warm function is designed to encourage milk letdown. These versatile pads even change color to indicate the temperature, ensuring you can easily customize your experience.

How to use:

  • Cold use:

    • Prep pads by placing them in the freezer for at least four hours; you’ll know they’re ready to go when they turn purple.

    • Before use, slide the pads into their covers to ensure there's a barrier between the cold surface and your skin. For added convenience, using them with a bra will help keep them securely in place.

    • Limit each session to a maximum of 20 minutes for the well-being of your skin.

  • Hot use:

    • 700-watt microwaves: 16 seconds

    • 1,000-watt microwaves: 13 seconds

    • 1,250-watt microwaves: 11 seconds

    • Prep pads by microwaving them or putting them in boiling water. If warming in the microwave, heat each pad individually.

    • You'll know they're ready when they turn white, but the following is a general guide to follow:

What to know

While Willow's Therapy Pads are fantastic allies in your breastfeeding or pumping journey, it's crucial to follow a few guidelines for optimal and safe use:

  • Avoid overheating by limiting microwave sessions to a total of 20 seconds – it's the sweet spot for warmth without risking damage to the pad.

  • Always test the pad before direct skin contact to ensure it's at a safe temperature for your skin. Remember, safety first!

  • Whether you’re using the pads warm or cold, keep your sessions within a 20-minute window. It's a golden rule to prevent any unwanted injuries.

  • If you have sensitive skin, skin insensitivity (numbness), or any open wounds in the breast area, it's best to steer clear of these pads. Be sure to consult your doctor or health care professional with any additional questions related to skin concerns.

  • If you experience extreme or chronic pain, develop a fever, or have worsening symptoms, discontinue use and reach out to your doctor or healthcare professional.
