Start and stop your pumps, track your session history, get helpful breastfeeding tips, and more.
Wearable breast pumps provide breastfeeding moms with much-needed flexibility, convenience, and control. They make it possible to pump while working, multitasking, taking care of older children, and more — and if you’re using the Willow 360 or Willow Go, they also fit fully in-bra without any bulky motors, tubes, or cords.
Many wearables are also compatible with mobile apps, giving moms even more freedom when pumping. They can use these apps to manage their session, see how much they’ve pumped, and access personalized pumping insights with a tap.
Willow 360 and Willow Go are both app-connected and controlled — a smart and innovative offering that moms love. To learn more about the Willow app and its features, keep reading.
What Does the Willow App Do?
You can use the Willow app to start and pause your session, adjust the hospital-grade suction levels (and customize them for each breast), toggle between stimulation and expression modes (if pumping with the Willow Go), see how long you’ve been pumping, view your daily session history, and more.
If you’re pumping with the Willow 360, you can track your milk output in the app in real time; if you’re pumping with the Willow Go, you can enter your milk volume once you’re finished your session. You can also keep track of the pump’s battery levels so you’re never left without the charge you need.
The app also includes helpful onboarding tips and access to an extensive library of articles and videos on all things pumping, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery. You can even book 1:1 services with lactation consultants, pelvic floor therapists, mental health professionals, and more.
Do I Need the App?
While you can use the Willow pump without the app, we would recommend against it! Here’s why:
- Without the app, you won't receive notifications about important software updates, which can improve the functionality of the pump.
- You’ll need to reach into your bra to manage your session and check your milk output when you could otherwise do it with a tap (and keep both hands free!)
- You’ll miss out on the opportunity to gain pumping insights by viewing your daily session history and seeing how your output evolves over time
The Willow app is compatible with both Willow 3.0 and Willow Go pumps, and it can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store. If you’re pumping with the Willow 360, you can also connect to the app using your Apple Watch — it’s the only pump with an Apple Watch-compatible app.
Using the App
The first thing you’ll want to do is pair your pump. You can do this as soon as you unbox it!
Pair Your Pump
To pair your pump with the app, follow these steps:
Step 1: Download the Willow app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 2: Turn on your Willow pump by pressing the power button. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
Step 3: Hold the pump near your phone. The app will automatically detect the pump, and you will be prompted to pair the two devices.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process.
Once your pump is paired with the app, you can start using it to control your pumping sessions.
Controls
The app allows you to select the pump’s suction level and mode. (If you’re pumping with Willow 360, the app will show when the pump has automatically switched from stimulation to expression based on your body’s natural letdown patterns.) The controls are easy to use and customizable for optimal output.
The app's dashboard gives you a quick summary of your pumping history, including the volume of milk collected, the duration of pumping, and the number of pumping sessions. You can also track your milk supply and set reminders to pump at specific times.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues while using the app, the troubleshooting section is a great resource. Articles and tutorial videos provide detailed instructions on how to fix common problems such as connectivity issues, low battery, and pump errors.
